I’m Gaby a freelance photographer from France forever inspired by the beauty of nature and the connection of humans with the wilderness.

From a very young age, being immersed into nature in the middle of the mountains or by the sea has been a truly healing and freeing experience. Combined with my passion for exploring new places, hiking unbeaten tracks to remote lakes or high peaks, going camping in the wild, photography has become the best way for me to contemplate and celebrate the beautiful scenery around me.

Photography has been a family story through generations. I share my passion with my Dad who, as a professional photographer, taught me the basics of film photography, composition, light and perspectives. He also gave me his passion for the outdoors, taught me birds’ names and songs and how to listen to the loud silence of the mountains.

Longing for adventures, new connections and wild places, I sold most of my belongings and moved to Aotearoa New Zealand where I lived for a few years. Absolutely submersed by the beauty and fragility of true wilderness, I felt deeply connected to nature in the land of the long white cloud. And soon my love for photography turned into an obsession. Chasing the light and running after sunrises and sunsets became my new normal daily and favourite activity.

For me, photography is an adventure that started in Wellington on the 41st parallel South. And wherever I am in the world photography will always have something to do with New Zealand, my adoptive country. I made the Tarapirohe (black-fronted tern) my emblem. It is one of the most beautiful and elegant New Zealand bird and yet one of the numerous endangered bird species of the country. Birds are a symbol of freedom but also of the fragility of nature, that we owe not only the planet but also ourselves to protect.

2% for the Planet

Nature is my source of inspiration everyday, and with my small photography business I’d like to contribute and support wildlife organizations that are on the ground making their best to protect and restore it.

I’m committed to give back not 1% but 2% of my net sales to two conservation charities in France and in New Zealand:

  • 1% of my sales goes to Mountain Wilderness (France) which is committed to protect wilderness, support new sustainable economic development in mountain areas, promote sustainable activities in those sensitive areas so anyone can experience vast open spaces, silence, solitude and nature for all future generations.
  • another 1% goes to Forest & Bird (NZ) a leading conservation organization in New Zealand that advocates to protect Land, Fresh Water and Oceans and helps restore natural ecosystems and native flora and fauna throughout the country.

By working with me, you support a small business but also organizations that are working hard to protect and heal Mother Nature. Thank you!
